In 2020 Mute in conjunction with Spoon Records will be releasing an album of Irmin Schmidt’s recent live performance, this includes a new interpretation of Klavierstück II on the prepared piano, as well as two new pieces Nocturne and Yonder , both premiered at the Hudders fi eld Contemporary Music Festival 21st November 2019. In the spirit of Irmin and his work with Can, these pieces take shape during the performance and are always only loosely based on the original pieces, making any live performance unique and the cap - tured live performance something very special and di ff erent to the original. This release will be part of the ongoing campaign that started with the release Irmin’s ground breaking prepared piano album 5 Klavierstücke at the end of 2018 and continued with the release of his career retrospective Villa Wunderbar in 2019.
